Want to learn to draw/paint? Join me later this month at Martin Mere Wetland Centre…

Hey there my friends I hope you’re all keeping well. Today’s catch up will just be a short one – for those of you that read my last newsletter you’ll remember that I was having family come to stay for a week. Brilliant you may think… It started wonderfully then went downhill when I tested positive for Covid 😟 Oh my word I felt rough and was unable to go out and about doing the things we’d planned. So now with family back in their own homes and myself more or less back to normal, we’re now planning on their next visit where viruses will not, under any circumstances, be invited lol.

Thankfully I was able to complete a little pastel painting (shown above) which is the subject for my next workshop later this month – hope to see you there. Due to run on Saturday 25th June at Martin Mere Wetland Centre.

I also had time to edit one of my overdue videos Red Squirrel in Pastel, record the voiceover and upload to my YouTube channel – it’s now live if you’d like to take a peek 😉

Open to all there’s something for everyone, the chance to meet over 250 artists, a lot of which will be demonstrating (including me demonstrating for Caran d’Ache). Plus ‘hands-on’ workshops and art material offers all set in 60 acres of beautiful Nottinghamshire countryside.

Exhibition of Wildlife Art – ‘an exciting three day show featuring the work of some of the world’s most talented wildlife artists. The biggest and most successful, open selling, exhibition of Wildlife Art outside of London. All exhibited work is for sale and many artist demonstrate whilst there.’ I’ll be demonstrating whilst exhibiting there this year and would love for you to drop by and say hello.

Art Safari in Uganda – a two week tour taking in some of Uganda’s best national parks, optional gorilla and chimpanzee tracking, visiting a rhino sanctuary and so much more. With a maximum of 6 participants this art based safari ensures you’ll have all the natural world of Uganda has to offer, plus plenty of 1 to 1 guidance from me when you need it to enable you to capture all that you want on paper or canvas. More information below.

North West Birdwatching Festival – Open at 8am, start your day by watching the spectacle of thousands of wild geese leave the roost before heading for breakfast in the Martin Mere restaurant. Over the two day there will be an array of guest speakers and exhibitors, artists and photographers including photography workshops, guided reserve walks, and more. I’ll be exhibiting and demonstrating throughout the weekend and would love you to drop by and say hello.

Latest News

Great news – I’m now officially a Derwent Ambassador! After reading the contract several times just to be on the safe side, I signed it and returned it so now it’s all official. I’ll be sharing more news on this little venture as my relationship with Derwent evolves.

Hopefully I’ll have some more ‘new news’ for you all next week 😊

Subscriber Question

Q. I’ve been given some pan pastels, how should I be using them?

A. A perfectly timed question as my latest YouTube video fits this question perfectly. Now depending on your style you may want to, as I do, create out of focus backgrounds with your pan pastels – a great way to get a feel for your new materials. I also like to create the base coats of my subjects with them too. All of this and more can be seen in my latest video Red Squirrel in Pastel.

I may not always have a video on my YouTube channel to go alongside a subscriber’s question, but when I do I’ll be sure to add it.

Okay folks that’s it for me today, don’t want to waffle on for waffling sake lol. I hope you’ve enjoyed this quick catch up and that you all have a lovely weekend.

Thank you once again as always my friends for spending some time with me today, and please feel free to leave a question or suggestion in the contact form below.

Wishing you all the best, until next time, as always, stay safe and stay creative, Kerry xXx
