happy easter card

Sorry if you’ve already received this email – I keep getting a message saying this hasn’t been sent 🙄 So just attempting to share this one again to be on the safe side 😉

Hey there my friends I hope you’re all keeping well and finding some time to be creative. For those of you who celebrate Easter may I take this opportunity in wishing you a truly wonderful Easter weekend filled with love and blessings in abundance. I’m going to be spending the weekend with family, away from my easel for a few days, but hopefully not too far away from a sketchbook and some travel watercolours (somehow they always manage to find their way into my luggage lol).

This week has been busy time in my studio – the completion of another commission and a small watercolour painting of a Kingfisher (this will be the subject for this month’s watercolour workshop, due to run on Sat 30th April at the Martin Mere Wetland Centre. Plus I have taken on some extra work in the form of restoring an original painting – something that wont be shared in my newsletter, however they’ll be plenty more goodies coming this way 😊

Latest News

Not a lot for this section this week, I have been talking with the global marketing manager from Derwent but I can’t elaborate more on this just yet.

Some good news that I can share is that I know have video footage on my pc for three new YouTube videos, one watercolour, one acrylic and one pastel. I will start to edit the footage over the next couple of weeks and thereafter add the voice overs so that they can then be added to my YouTube channel 😉 You’ll be the first to know as soon as they go live.

On My Easel

Completed this little watercolour sample painting today 15.04.2022

So this new section ‘On My Easel’ first made it’s appearance in my previous newsletter and has proved to be a success, so it will stay a regular feature from now on 😊

As I mentioned earlier in this newsletter I’ve completed the two above projects this week. Once back home from visiting family (which will be next Tues or Wed) I’ll begin the restoration of a painting for a client. After which I’ll move on to begin my next commission, plus I’ve a couple of paintings to varnish (will video this process and will upload to my YouTube channel for anyone who may be interested.

Subscriber Question

Q. Is it okay to work in different art mediums or should I just stick to one?

A. This is going to be a subject that differs very much between individuals. I personally love being able to move between mediums. For instance finishing a pastel project and then setting up for a project in acrylic gives my mind a quick spring clean, and the change of medium stops that ‘repetitive feeling’ setting in. I work in many mediums, many of which can be viewed on my YouTube channel. I’ll be adding more soon including graphite and charcoal. So in short, if you fancy trying something new, I say go for it.

Below is a little 34 second video showing some of the mediums I enjoy working with 😉

I may not always have a video on my YouTube channel to go alongside a subscriber’s question, but when I do I’ll be sure to add it.

Okay I’m going to have to finish here for today as my tummy is rumbling lol.

So thank you once again my friends for spending some time with me today, and please feel free to leave a question or suggestion in the contact form below.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend, until next time, as always, stay safe and stay creative, Kerry xXx
